It all begun some 2,020 years ago; when despite 50 plus bible prophecies, predicting the birth of Jesus for over 600 years; aside; for a group of Sheppard’s, and 3 wise man; His birth went largely unnoticed.
Christmas is not mentioned in the Bible; and early Christian believers, and writers; found fault with pagan celebrating of birthdays. The 1st Christmas celebration was in Rome; on 25th December, AD 336; yet many reject this; as the date when Jesus was born; (Christmas-Wikipedia).
So; Christmas is largely about great myths; miracles; and traditions. Thus; each year, Santa magically produces and delivers presents to the entire world; in one night. And Jesus miraculous birth to a young virgin; is re-enacted in nativity plays; year after year.
Traditionally; Christians around the world gather to worship and celebrate the great mystery; that this baby is God made flesh; (the; Incarnate Jesus). And each year; most fall in love with the little baby Jesus.
Yet; customary fascination with baby Jesus; and exhilaration of Christmas traditions; can be distracting; leaving the world largely clueless about Jesus second coming; as it was some 2,020 years ago; at the time of His first coming, when He was born.
So; Jesus last promise before ascending to heaven is. “You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall become witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (The Acts 1 verse 8).
Saying this; disciples watched Jesus taken up to heaven in a cloud. And as they steadily gazed toward heaven, 2 men in white clothes appeared beside them; asking; men; why do you stand; gazing into heaven?
Not receiving an answer; they said:“This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven; shall come so, in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven, (The Acts 1 verses 9 to11).
Disciples encounter with angels; assures us; that this same Jesus is coming again.
Beholding Jesus our Saviour each year; we should gaze into heaven every day; read His Word; and walk with Jesus along the way of truth; ready for His second coming.
Jesus special promise for this Christmas is: Let not your heart be troubled. Believe In God and me. In my Father’s house are many mansions. I now go to prepare a place for you.And then I will come again, to take you with me; so that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14 verses 1 to 3).
So; from today on let us prepare, and be ready each day; for Jesus second; coming.
