To yoke, means to couple or attach with. Example of unequal yoking would be of coupling a camel and a donkey together; where each pulls in a different direction, at their own speed.
This example is somewhat analogous of yoking together believers and unbelievers;
Thus such unequal couplings are burdensome for all of them.
“For example, in Matthew chapter 11; verses 29 and 30, Jesus says: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
However, being unequally yoked is neither easy, light, nor is recommended for; men, or animals.
Thus, in 2nd Corinthians chapter 6; verses14 to 18, Apostle Paul warns us: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness?
And what accord has Christ with Belial (wicked one)? Or what part has he that believes with an infidel (unbeliever)? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols?
For ye are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
And will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty”.
Yes, God said through Apostle Paul, be not unequally yoked with unbelievers, for righteousness and unrighteousness; light and darkness; temple of God and idols have nothing in common.
Moreover, darkness is absence of light; thus where is light there is no darkness. Thus, enmity between Christ; Jesus and the devil (wicked one); are diametrically opposite; and have nothing in common.
God our heavenly Father, commands all believers in Christ Jesus His Son; to love all believers, unbelievers, and their enemies; as they love themselves; but they should not be yoked together with unbelievers.
Being unequally yoked is a relationship that is burdensome for both parties.
Thus, at some point both become believers, unbelievers, or the yoke breaks apart
