Saying “let there be light” on the first day of reshaping the earth, God made light; then separating darkness from light; and calling them Day and Night; God established the evening and morning cycle and duration for days that followed.
Describing God reshaping earth on day 2. In Genesis chapter 1 verse 6 to 8; the Bible reveals the origination of Heaven.
“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day”.
The bible text in Genesis 1:6 to 8, reveals some remarkable details.
God separated the already present waters saying; “let there be” a firmament. When heavens (a plural noun); and earth (a singular noun with lower case e) were originally created (in eternity past); there were heavens but no firmament God called Heaven (note the capital H).
The word firmament is anglicised from Latin fermamentum; derived from the root firmus; meaning firm; which is used to translate the Hebrew word rakiya; derived from raqa; meaning to beat, or spread out a firm expanse; arch, or sky vault. So, there was sky-water above (Hebrew word mayim); and below was the sea water (Hebrew word yam).
Thus, God created Heaven (a firm expanse), that contained the waters above; which remained separated from the waters below. And; in accord with the already set evening and morning cycle and duration; this was the 2nd day.
By creating the Heaven before the earth; and dividing the already present waters into sky water above; and the water below it; God continued reshaping the originally made formless, void, and darkness filled face of the deep covering earth with waters.
