On the 1st day God said: “Let there be light”; and there was light God pronounced as good; thus He divided it from darkness. And after naming them Day and Night; the evening and the morning were (essentially) the 1st day; (a time span).
On the 2nd day, God made the firmament He called Heaven, (a firm vault expense) holding the waters above Heaven; and dividing them from the waters, below Heaven.
Then, on day 4; “God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
And the evening and the morning were the fourth day”. (Genesis 1:14-19).
It’s remarkable that “God said on day 1, let there be” light; then on day 4, lights in heaven’s firmament. Thereafter He pronounced that the light was good; and that dividing; light from darkness was good. As only God is good; does origin of lights and its division from darkness, on earth and in the firmament of heaven; imply God’s enduring presence, and goodness; in opposition to darkness of sin, death and evil?
Moreover, without light; there would be no division from darkness, no day and night, or essence of evening and morning, being the first day; and all following days.
Now verses 14 to 16 reveal, that all lights and stars, were to give light upon the earth, and were set in; the firmament of the heaven for signs; seasons, days and years. Thus on day 4, God established a continuous timeline; maintained by the greater and lesser light; that divided light from darkness; and ruled day and night. And as signs in the heaven’s firmament, they would display prophesied displays, confirming arrival of important events; including the end of Devine timeline.
However; Why were all heavenly lights (but stars) unnamed; and why were they set up in heaven’s firmament?. Why would God pronounce light; and dividing light from darkness good?.
