God created Lucifer as a perfect being. Biblical disclosures by prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel; reveal how perfect, beautiful and unique he was; before he defiled himself.
History of his origins, initial position and downfall to devil and Satan; were provided by the Holy Spirit; the omnipresent eye witness all these things from the beginning.
Led by the Holy Spirit, prophet Ezekiel was enabled to see beyond the literal king of Tyre; to see its real king, Satan himself.
This explains imagery; and references as these in Ezekiel chapter 28; verses 13-16; for they transcend only local application, or references to literal kings.
‘Thus says the Lord God: “You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created. “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you “.
- “Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God”; verse 13;
- “Thou art the anointed cherub that covers…thou wast upon the holy mountain of God”; verse 14;
- “Thou was perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast , created till iniquity was found in thee”; verse 15;
- “I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God; I will destroy thee. O covering cherub”; verse 16;
Likewise; Prophet Isaiah was enabled by the Holy Spirit to look beyond the literal king of Babylon.
Thus in chapter 14: verses 12-14; Isaiah digresses from addressing the literal king of Babylon; to reveal a history of him who is the real king of Babylon; Satan.
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High”.
Thus, both prophets received Devine revelations on how and why Lucifer self defiled and fell-down to become Satan. Kings of Tyre and Babylon did not:
- Fall from heaven
- Walk in the garden of Eden
- Were not covering cherubs
- Were not created by God
Moreover, the Bible reveals in Proverbs 23:7: “For as hethinks in his heart, so is he”. “Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death”. James 1:15
Lucifer spread wicked deceptions, selfish ambitions, and false accusations among the angelic host; which caused a rebellion that led to war in heaven.
The Bible reveals details of it in Revelation 12:7-9 7 “And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”.
Defiling himself; Lucifer the shining one; light bearer; son of the morning; became Satan.
Thus, Lucifer is the original name of Satan; a Hebrew word that means the accuser, and adversary. These words describe Satan’s character.
The English word devil derives from the Greek word diabolos. It may refer to Satan the prince and ruler of planet earth; or to some of his demonic spirits.
